We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Jack, MEG, Pierce, Jacob and entire family. God shows his goodness by giving us loving, loyal, and caring friends to be there for us throughout life's ups and downs. Thank you, Ellen, for being a constant blessing to us for over sixty-five years. We'll continue to remember fondly all the good times and laughter we shared throughout the years. You had many medical crosses to bear and you met them with courage and resilience. Now you are at peace. May God continue to hold you in the palm of his hand.

Ellen and I met around 2008 and our friendship grew over the years. We would often talk about 7:30 a.m. due to our sleep habits. Whatever time we hooked up she got off at 9 because Meg would make her daily 9 a.m. call to Mom. That was sacred for Ellen. I so enjoyed Ellen's personality (we'd laugh and laugh) and her caring for others (a heart of gold). I will miss Ellen greatly but feel very lucky to have known her. She was so spiritual! I will whisper a prayer to her and I truly believe she will hear me! What a JOY!

What a kind soul!

Ellen was such a joy to chat with as a “church friend”. She always was so interested in what others were doing, and never drew attention to herself. We spent time together as Eucharistic Ministers at Shadyside Hospital, and although there were times that it seemed that Ellen was struggling with her health, she never called off or mentioned that she didn’t feel well. My memories are of her smiling, sweet face.

My prayers and sympathy go out to Ellen’s family.

Jack, my prayers and sympathy to you and the family. Fond memories of many years ago in the Shadyside neighborhood and Sacred Heart parish. I have a picture of you, Ellen and the Hannigans at my ordination dinner. Be well and assured of my thoughts and prayers. Father Joe Keenan
