Obituary of Robert John Kramer

Robert (Bob) John Kramer Age 85 of Fox Chapel, Pa., died on Friday, January 13, 2017. A life-long Pittsburgher, Bob attended Sterrett School, Peabody High School and graduated from Shady Side Academy in 1949, where he later was engaged in various alumni initiatives. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity. In the late 1950s, following a stint in sales and market research with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, he took over his father’s residential real estate business, the O. H. Kramer Company, which later became Lloyd & Kramer Company, building and selling homes primarily in Pittsburgh’s East End. After selling the company, Bob specialized in commercial real estate throughout metropolitan Pittsburgh with Arnheim & Neely. Bob lived in Point Breeze, Squirrel Hill and Edgewood, where he raised his family. He was a life-long member of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. Bob will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his kind, affable spirit and quick wit. His interests included domestic and international travel, listening to classical music including attending performances of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, socializing with friends and family and spending winter months at his home in Hillsboro Beach, Fla. Bob is survived by his wife Winifred, his brother John Kramer (Penny) of Naples, Fla.; children Katherine Cerullo (Edward) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Christine Vincett (William) of Fox Chapel, James Kramer of Wheaton, Ill. and Steven Kramer of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren Edward, Megan and Julie Cerullo, Kathryn and William Vincett and Michael and Sarah Kramer; nephews Douglas, Matthew and Mark Kramer; and stepchildren Charles Irwin, Alison Lally, Lisa Bishop, Amy Nixon and Clancy Nixon. A memorial service will take place at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Fox Chapel, on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM, with an informal reception to follow at the church.
