Obituary of Kirk J. Curilla

Curilla Kirk J. Age 64 of O’Hara Township and proudly raised in Point Breeze, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. He was the son of the late George and Bernadette Curilla. Marrying his ‘high school sweetheart’, Shawn Duffy Curilla in 1975. Kirk leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years. He is also the proud and loving father of his children Kirk (K.C.) Curilla, Jr., Jason Phillip Curilla and his daughter Taylor Curilla Rinaldi and son-in-law Bob Rinaldi. Kirk was the most proud grandfather to his 3 beautiful granddaughters, Skylar J. Curilla, Charlotte Grace Rinaldi and Hannah Elizabeth Rinaldi. Kirk also leaves behind a brother Patrick Curilla, (Dee), a sister Maureen Curilla DeBattiste (Michael) and the late Elizabeth Curilla Kleem. He was a son of the late George and Bernadette Mullen Cerilla. He also leaves many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by many, many dear friends. Kirk was a 1972 graduate of Central Catholic. He lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He received a full scholarship to play varsity football for his beloved University of Miami, Florida, the Canes. A successful sales executive focusing in industrial sales his entire career, Kirk’s infectious personality earned him clients who became friends. Kirk shared his athletic skills by coaching all of his children in soccer, basketball and baseball through the Fox Chapel Youth Sports Program. Kirk was an avid fisherman, but he especially loved Central Catholic Football, the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, but most of all the Miami Hurricanes. Most of all, Kirk’s greatest passion was his family. He took pride in spending time with his family and extended family. Kirk was an inspiration to everyone who crossed his path. Helping others is what Kirk loved and did best. He will be missed beyond word. A life well lived. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC. FUNERAL HOME, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Friday, 2-8 p.m., where Funeral will commence on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church, Dorseyville Road, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Kirk's name to the American Heart Association.
