Of Shadyside, on Saturday, January 6, 2018, age 85.  Beloved husband of the late Julia Drake Lambert; father of Bob Lambert (Marisol), Mike Lambert (Valerie) and Carol Huggins (Ken); grandfather of Aliette, Frederick, Jessica and Hailey Lambert and Christian Huggins; brother of Betty Hawkins (Bruce), Helen Harding (Lew), Sibbald Lambert (Shirley) and Don Lambert (the late Ginger); also survived by nieces and nephews.  Leonard was born in Cherokee, N.C. and was an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.  He attended North Carolina State University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He spent the majority of his life working for Alcoa, and living abroad with his family in Suriname, Australia, Brazil and Mexico and later as a consultant, in India and S. Korea.  Both Leonard and his wife Julia had a passion for traveling, visiting more than 60 countries.  He was an avid artist and author, publishing a childhood memoir, “Up From These Hills: Memories of a Cherokee Boyhood.”  A service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday at 11 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Leonard’s name to the American Heart Association.  Condolences may be left at www.mccabebrothers.com
