Obituary of Ann McFadden

McFadden

Ann

Peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018, age 83, of Oakmont.  Raised on a sheep station in rural Australia, Ann was a graduate of the University of Queensland, Brisbane. She would leave Australia to come to the United States to pursue a 60 year career in advertising, retiring as vice president, creative director of Blattner Brunner (now Brunner) in 1999, but continuing to pass on her vast experience as a mentor to those just getting started in the world of advertising in the role of creative director emeritus at Brunner until her death.  Prior to joining Blattner Brunner Inc., Ann served as vice president and associate creative director at Della Femina, McNamee WCRS/Pittsburgh and Ketchum Advertising in both Pittsburgh and San Francisco.  She also worked as a copy writer at Ted Bates, New York, and McCann Erickson, Australia.  She received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, culminating with her induction into the Pittsburgh Advertising Hall of Fame. She was a member of the marketing committee of the Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh Irish Classical Theatre, and the March of Dimes.  But while she was an internationally renowned advertising legend who was respected and beloved by the countless friends she made throughout her career and charitable pursuits, her greatest passion was her family. Ann is survived by her husband of 48 years, David, son Dave (Melissa) and her granddaughters Betsy and Evelyn. We miss our wife, mom and grandma so much and we will never forget her.  Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside, on Tuesday, March 13, from 6-8 pm and Wednesday, March 14, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  Prayers for Ann will be offered at 11 am on Thursday, March 15 at the funeral home, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery.  Condolences may be left at www.mccabebrothers.com
