Obituary of James Joseph Sosso

James Joseph Sosso Unexpectedly on Saturday, July 18, 2020, age 72, of Bloomfield. Beloved father of Melissa Sosso Dunker (James) and Michele Shaffer (Matt); loving grandfather of Helaina Rose and Kyden Matthew Shaffer; brother of Daniel R., Robert W., Mary Louise, Denise Sosso Figlio, Celeste M. Sosso Iaderosa (Adolph), Michael P. (Anna) and the late Thomas D. Sosso Jr.; former spouse and lifetime friend of Carol Slagel; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Will be dearly missed by his grand dogs, Maxxy Max, Milo, Mazie, Mabel and Gunnison. Jimmy was a proud veteran of the US Army who served his country with honor and valor during Vietnam. He was a dedicated and faithful member of his church, St. Stanislaus Kostka, serving many years as an usher. He made many friends and acquaintances with his infectious laugh and quick wit, which endeared him to many. Jimmy had a great love for his family and friends and always put others first. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Wednesday, 6-8 pm and Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Allegheny County mandates the wearing of masks, social distancing and limited occupancy at one time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Strip District on Friday at 10 am. THOSE WISHING TO ATTEND PLEASE GATHER AT THE CHURCH. Interment private.
