Mariano F. “Dutchie” Chelli
Age 77, of Morningside on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Wonderful husband to Shirley Kaye (Funk) Chelli for 46 years; loving father of Mario Chelli (Christine) and the late Joseph “Joey” Chelli; doting grandfather to Joey, Kaysia, and Luca Chelli and Alivia and Damon Brown; beloved son of the late Mariano C. “Dutch” and Catherine (Conte) Chelli; brother of the late Josephine Trapani, (survived by Angelo). Best uncle to Angela, Michael and Kevin (Jacqueline) Trapani and great-uncle to A.J., Gia, and Gabriella Trapani; brother-in-law of Bob (Becky), Bill (Pat), Jeff (Carrie) and Craig (Ruth) Funk.
Dutchie worked for 49 years as a waiter at the LeMont Restaurant before retiring in 2007. He waited on many famous people and was requested by a lot of repeat customer over the years. He also worked at the former Alexander’s Italian Bistro in Bloomfield. He will be greatly missed by many first cousins and their families, by Amy and Stephen Brown, and by many friends and neighbors, especially Donna and Philip Gallagher.
Friends received at McCabe Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Monday, 2-8 pm. Masks, social distancing and a limit of 25 persons in the funeral home at one time will be required due to current Allegheny County rules in effect.
