Condolences
To Marybeth and the Nickel Famiy, I extend my heartfelt sympathy on learning of Gary’s passing. Gary was a great guy. With Gary just living two doors away from my Grandparents the Byrnes in Point Breeze, I really didn’t get to know him until our late teens and early twenties, when We drank some beers and shared a lot of laughs. I’ve been out of Pittsburgh for a good while now, and I apologize for the late Condolence message.
He was a good person and friend, we had good times. RIP
Patty Pikunas Rieger, here..Growing up, Gary was one of my brothers best buddies. They spent many an afternoon hunting squirrels in Frick Park. Gary, unlike Michael’s other friends, always called me by my REAL name. He always brought us venison, showed us his prized black bear, and LOVED my mom’s cherry pie. Gary was one of the kindest, most humble and sweet “kids” I ever knew.Eternal rest, Gary. Love from the Pikunas family.
We all have such fond memories of Gary as a fun loving, kind and gentle person. He was a dear friend to my brother Mike and to my parents whom he would still visit over the years and play backgammon with my dad. Our love and prayers go out to his brothers and sisters. Such a special family that we hold near and dear to our hearts,

Gary was always nice to me, and he worked with my dad at giant eagle for a long time. RIP.
