Arlene Sebastian

Obituary of Arlene M. Sebastian

Age 88, loving wife of the late Donald P. Sebastian, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2022. Arlene grew up in Mount Washington, PA. In 1954, a good friend introduced Arlene to the love of her life, Donald Sebastian. They were married the following year. Working alongside her husband, they opened their first dry cleaning store on Mount Royal Blvd. As the business began to grow, so did their family. Arlene was soon a busy mother of six. She made every day special for her children, but Christmases were truly memorable. In 1986, with her husbands’ encouragement and blessing, Arlene realized her own dream when she opened Habersham House, a furniture and accessory store. For fifteen years, Arlene welcomed customers and helped them make their homes beautiful. Arlene was an avid gardener and quite the green thumb with a yard filled with gorgeous plants and flowers. She appreciated all-natural things and wildlife. Anyone who met her instantly recognized her kind nature. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially any time she and Don could spend at their home in Hidden Valley. She also loved traveling to new places and spending time at the beach with her family. Arlene was preceded in death by her by her beloved husband Donald and her brother Robert. She is survived by her sister Vilma of Flemington, NJ. Also surviving are her children and their spouses; Leann Sebastian (Rick), Lisa Britton (Bill), Janice Thomas (Mike), Dina Valant (Greg), Donald Sebastian (Alexis), and Steven Sebastian (Kelly); 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family is grateful for the loving care and attention provided by the staff of Arden Memory Care, AHAVA Memory Care, and Home Instead. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arlene’s name to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Association Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Resurrection Parish, St. Thomas More Church on Tuesday at 1 pm. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
