Obituary of Phyllis Fabio
Age 85, of the South Side, Pittsburgh passed away peacefully on Wednesday September
7 th , 2022. Phyllis was born on December 2 nd , 1936, the youngest of five children of the late Joseph and
Carmela (Pappariello) Fabio on the South Side. She will always be remembered by her family as our
beloved Aunt Philly who nurtured and supported six generations with unconditional love and an open
door to her home. She was the glue that held together a large and geographically disperse extended
family. Everyone always counted on Aunt Philly to know about and keep us up to date with the
happenings in each other’s lives and to teach us the history of the generations that came before us. She
had a sharp mind, a strong worth ethic, and never shirked responsibility. She had the courage to tell you
the truth and always balanced it with tenderness. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Cindy
(Frank), Jimmy, Joe (Celine), Bobby, Diane (Doree), Anthony (Tanya); her great-nieces and great-
nephews Matthew, Michael, Tracy, Joey, Kristin, Rob, Sean, Jessica, Raequel, Steven, Kandice, Jim,
Nikhil; and their children and grandchildren Zachary, Parker, Rebecca, Joseph, Brighton, Megan, Sarah,
Keira, Chloe, Keith, Tim, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Hayley, Jacob, Avery, Isabella, and Sebastian. She was
preceded in death by her parents, by her siblings Marie Bailey (Madison), Antoinette, Frank, Leonard
(LaVerne), by her nephews Leonard J, and Mark, and by her great-niece Lisa, and great-nephew Danny.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to her friends at Carson Towers for their support and care
of Phyllis. Funeral services will be private and are entrusted to the professional services of McCabe
Brothers Funeral Homes.
