Obituary of Frederick B. Elliott III, Esq.

FREDERICK B. ELLIOTT III, ESQ. Age 78, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 from a stroke, following a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born January 25, 1944 to his parents, Frederick B. Elliott and Attorney Mary O’Loughlin Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the Honorable Kate Ford Elliott and his loving son Laughlin Elliott, daughter in law, Nalynn and grandsons, Landon and Henry. Fred was a 1962 graduate of Central Catholic High School and received his B.A. and Masters degree from Long Island University, C.W. Post, and his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. Following in the footsteps of his mother, he was a solo practitioner in Pittsburgh for 42 years retiring in 2016. He was a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and was a past president of the former University Club in Oakland. He was an avid and accomplished squash and tennis player. Fred was raised in a multigenerational household in a large home in Highland Park and grew up sharing his childhood with cousins Bill O’Loughlin and the late Molly O’Loughlin Vener. He then married into a family of seven siblings and all the Fords became his brothers and sisters. He is also survived by his brother in law, Michael Ford and sisters in law, Loretto Crane, Libby Ford and Rita Chmill as well as many wonderful and much loved nieces and nephews. Friends receieved at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
