Helen Mae (Kearney) Horan
Age 100, of Fort Lauderdale, FL (formerly of Pittsburgh, PA) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Helen was the loving wife of the late James R. Horan (47 years, until his passing in 1989). She was the beloved and cherished mother of her three children, Michael J. Horan (the late Joann), Henry R. Horan (former wife, Nan Hanley Horan), and Mary Bridget Quaquarucci (John). She was a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Michael J. Horan III (Brenda), Gina Pittard (Jesse), Shawn Horan, Todd Horan, and Brittany Blobner (Brandon). She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, Holly, Becka, Allison, Ian, Ava, Andrew, and Ryan, as well as her great-great granddaughter, Shay and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bridget (O’Toole) Kearney, as well as her four sisters: Anna Lambert, Cecilia Caprino, Margaret Pursh, Kathleen Pais, and five brothers: William, Henry, Thomas, Robert, and John Kearney, as well as her beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Her family brought her tremendous joy in life, equaled only by her very strong Catholic faith. Helen was a kind, thoughtful, and generous person with a life-long passion for health and fitness. Her motto was “Your health is your wealth!” She positively impacted many lives in her 100 years of life and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (Shadyside) on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 310 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023.
