Marlene Evelyn (Gionta)

On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, the Lord called her home.  Age 80, beloved wife of 62 years to Anthony “Nino” Ionadi; loving mother of Phillip A. Ionadi (Patti); Renee Ionadi (Lawrence), Anthony Nino Ionadi (Jacqueline); grandmother of Dana Ionadi, Phillip A. Ionadi, Jr. (Dawn), Vita Marlena Ionadi, Regina and Stefanie Ionadi; great-grandmother of Courtney, Cameron, and Kendall Stack and Gianna Bofo; daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Stella Gionta; sister of the late Andy Gionta (Theresa), Henry Gionta (the late Yolunda), Edward Gionta (Caroline) and Nilda Mercurio (Paul); also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  Marlene grew up on Stoebner Way (Larimer Avenue), raised her family on Jackson Street in Highland Park, then the Penn Hills and Verona area for many years, before eventually residing at Harmar Village in Cheswick, where the family would like to thank the staff for the excellent care given her.  Family and friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Sunday, January 21 from 2-8 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphael Church on Monday at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Marlene’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org/pa
