I just found out about this Wonderful Man's Passing. He was one of the kindest people I had ever met. The best Teacher in the whole world ! When Racist behavior was terrible this man was the most professional tough Guy I ever knew. My favorite teacher and Great Piano player. I will miss You Mr. Kennedy and It made My Bar mitzvah the best ever ! I would ask every kid ? Who was your favorite teacher ? Immediately they would say Mr. Kennedy. Rest in peace and to all of your Family He will be missed. Mitch Kamins.

To the friends and family of my dear friend and mentor “Joey K”,

Joe opened up for me new vistas of wisdom and true friendship. He always took me where I was and without complaint.

I miss him very much. And yet, he always taught me to be happy for what I had, as opposed to lamenting what was lost in life. I couldn’t be happier for what I had in him.

As he and I agreed, I will do my best to pay forward his mentorship in a manner befitting his extraordinary legacy.

Even though Joe & I were not in regular touch through the decades, I have so many great memories of him! First, of the often times I had enjoyed him & Frank entertaining at the Encore in Shadyside, That was entertainment at its best!! Another memory that leaps vividly to mind is when he was asked to play for my dear friend JoAnn's wedding in the North Hills. She chose to come down the aisle to "Ease on Down the Road" {from the Wizard of Oz] instead of the traditional wedding march! She never thought Joe would agree to something so 'way out there', but he didn't blink an eye! I don't think Hiland Church has ever been quite the same since!!

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you Joe. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now.
