I was privileged to know Mike and Gracie through my work in the nuclear power industry. I first met Mike during my brief employment at the Westinghouse research center in Churchill ~1998 and have been bumping into him at conferences and meetings ever since. One particularly memorable chance encounter was at a small bar in Santiago De Compostela (Spain) where we were all attending a meeting. I was walking back to my hotel after dinner and, not having an umbrella, decided to duck into a bar to avoid getting wetter. Imagine my surprise to find Mike and Gracie and another colleague in the back of the bar. We wound up staying and chatting for several more hours, eventually closing the place down.
Mike was kind and affable and i will miss him greatly.
Mike was such an important part of our team and we all loved him. He was such a happy person and ready for any activity we had planned, no matter how random they were! We are thankful to have known and worked with Mike and he will be greatly missed. I wanted to share some memories from past IMR team meetings and NPC advisory meetings.
